To be held prior to circle casting

Sweep

With this broom, tool of my will, I do cleanse, purify and prepare this space. From this
circle now I banish all fear, malice and misfortune, that this circle may be a fit meeting
place for gods and men. As I do will, so mote it be. 



 Breathe deeply, ground and center.
 Raise hands in Goddess position (spread in a V over your head, feet
 apart), then slowly lower them and cross them in the God position
 (arms crossed over your chest, feet together), feeling the power
 coursing down your arms throughout your body.
 Light an illuminator candle

Ring bell three times, Light other candles with altar candles clockwise
Cast Circle

Thrice about the circle is cast. Let nothing remain within save that which is in accord with
my Will and the intent if this rite. This is a place that is not a place, a time that is not a time,
between the worlds and beyond. Let all bewelcome who would share the blessings of this
ritual. So mote it be. 
say after circle has been cast:

   "The circle is cast.
                         We are between the worlds,
                         beyond the bounds of time;
                         where night and day,
                         birth and death,
                         joy and sorrow,
                         meet as one.
                         So mote it be."

Purify People

I purify you by the firm salt of law and the sweet waters of birth. Blessed be. 


 Light the incense at the East
 "Creature of Air
 I cleanse and consecrate thee
 to remove all negativity in this world
 So mote it be"
 Pass your hand over the incense three times to banish all negativity,
 imagine a sparkling light around the incense

 Light the candle at the South
 "O creature of Fire
 I cleanse and consecrate thee
 to remove all negativity in this world
 So mote it be"
 Pass your hand over the flame three times, same as above.

 Do the same for West and North, with water and a bowl of salt
 respectively

 Beginning North, move your hands over the altar three times, mixing
 the powers of the elementals. Tap the hilt of the knife on the altar at
 your right three times to seal.
 Your altar is prepared. You are now ready to cast the circle and begin
 workings of magick.

salt to water   

"Salt and water,
          Inner and outer,
          Soul and body,
          Be cleansed!
          Cast out all that is harmful!
          Take in all that is good and healing!
          By the power of the Mother of all life,
          And her lover the Horned God,
          So must it be!"

Hold the chalice close to your heart and feed power into the water. When you can feel it
glow, it is ready. If you are working with a group, pass it around and have everybody feed
energy into the chalice.

 Take the bowl of salt and place your finger into it.
"I purify this salt and drive all impure that I may use it throughout this rite. So
Mote it Be!"

Drop three portions of salt in the water
"Let the sacred salt drive out any impurities in this water, that I may use it
throughout this rite. So Mote It Be!"

 With sacred water move east, clockwise, sprinkle the circle
"With purifying water do I bless and consecrate this circle. So Mote It Be!"

 Move back to the altar and light incense, got to east moving clockwise

East
"Hail the element of air, watchtower of the east, may it stand in strength ever
watching over this circle"

 South
"Hail the element of fire, watchtower of the south, may it stand in strength ever
watching over this circle"

West
"Hail the element of water, watchtower of the west, may it stand in strength ever
watching over this circle"

 North
"Hail the element of earth, watchtower of the north, may is stand in strength ever
eating over this circle"

 "Hail the four quarters and hail the gods. I bid the Lord and Lady welcome and
invite them to join me, witnessing these rites I hold in their honour, Hail to the
Gods! The temple is now erect! So Mote It Be!"




     The Charge of the Goddess

Now listen to the words of the Great Mother, who was of old also called among men
Artemis, Astarte, Athene, Dione, Melusine, Aphrodite, Cerridwen, Dana, Arianrhod, Isis,
Bride, and by many other names. 

Whenever ye have need of any thing, once in the month, and better it be when the moon is
full, then shall ye assemble in some secret place, and adore the spirit of me, who am
Queen of all witches.

I am the gracious Goddess, who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man. Upon earth, I
give the knowledge of the spirit eternal; and beyond death, I give peace, and freedom,
and reunion with those who have gone before. Nor do I demand sacrifice; for behold, I
am the Mother of all living, and my love is poured out upon the earth.

Hear ye the words of the Star Goddess; she in the dust of whose feet are the hosts of
heaven, whose body encircles the universe.

I am the beauty of the green earth, and the white moon among the stars, and the mystery
of the waters, and the desire of the heart of man. Call unto thy soul; arise and come unto
me; for I am the soul of nature, who gives life to the universe. From me all things proceed,
and unto me all things must return; and before my face, beloved of Gods and of men, let
thine innermost divine self be enfolded in the rapture of the infinite. Let my worship be
within the heart that rejoiceth; for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals. And
therefore let there be beauty and strength, power and compassion, honour and humility,
mirth and reverence within you. And thou who thinkest to seek for me, know thy seeking
and yearning shall avail thee not unless thou knowest the mystery: that if that which thou
seekest thou findest not within thee, thou wilt never find it without thee. For behold, I have
been with thee from the beginning; and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.


  The Charge of the God

Listen to the words of the Great Father, who of old was called Osiris, Adonis, Zeus,
Thor, Pan, Cernunnos, Herne, Lugh and by many other names: 

"My Law is Harmony with all things. Mine is the secret that opens the gates of life and
mine is the dish of salt of the earth that is the body of Cernunnos that is the eternal circle of
rebirth. I give the knowledge of life everlasting, and beyond death I give the promise of
regeneration and renewal. I am the sacrifice, the father of all things, and my protection
blankets the earth." 

Hear the words of the dancing God, the music of whose laughter stirs the winds, whose
voice calls the seasons: 

"I who am the Lord of the Hunt and the Power of the Light, sun among the clouds and the
secret of the flame, I call upon your bodies to arise and come unto me. For I am the flesh
of the earth and all it's beings. Thru me all things must die and with me are reborn. Let my
worship be in the body that sings, for behold all acts of willing sacrifice are my rituals. Let
there be desire and fear, anger and weakness, joy and peace, awe and longing within you.
For these too are part of the mysteries found within yourself, within me, all beginnings
have endings, and all endings have beginnings."


Rite

When the moon rides high
as she crosses the sky
and the stars on her gown trail behind
then we wiccan below 
are all aglow
just to see her so brightly enshrined

On the night of the moon
as I sing to the tune
of the Lady who watches above 
I raise high my song
as she glides by so strong
and I bask in the light of her light

"Lovely Lady, you have been known by so many people. Aphrodite, Territory, Diana, Ea, Freyja, Gana Isis and
so many more have been your names. It is with these names do I adore and worship you with you Lord by your
side, do I give you due honour and invite you to join me on this, your special night."

Sit and meditate

"Descend my Lady, descend I pray thee, and speak with me you child".

Meditate, if you do not feel the spirit, do the following

"I am she who watches over thee"

"Mother of you al. Know that I rejoice that you do not forget me. To pay homage at the full of the moon is meet
and right and bring joy unto yourself even as it does me. Know that, with my good Lord I weave the skein of life
for everyone. I am at the beginning of life and at its end: The Maiden The Mother The Crone. Where ever you
may be, if you seek me know that I am always here, for I abide deep within you. Look, then, with yourself if you
would seek me. I am Lifeand I am Love. Find me and rejoice for love is my music and laughter is my song. Be true
to me and I will ever be true to you. Love is the law and love is the bond"

Wine Blessing

M: The male holds the power and is the reservoir of power. 
F: The female taps the power in him and channels it. 
B: Neither one can work without the other; one without the other is incomplete. 
M: The god is a god of life and death. 
F: The goddess is of birth and renewal. 
B: To learn you must struggle, to live you must be born, to be born you must die; the
beginning, the continuation and the end, over and over and over.
