Basic Candle Magic

Candles may be used for simple spells.
For example, if you wanted to increase your ability to gain
knowledge, you would use a Purple candle. On a piece of paper, write what you
want, and with the appropriate color candle, burn the paper. Let the candle
burn completely.
Another way to use candle magic is by chanting and marking the candle.
Runes can be inscribed on the candle instead of burning the paper, but this can
be vague. If this is so, you can incorporate burning a piece of paper into the
chanting and marking of candles. One way to do this is to score the candle nine
times, at even intervals along the candle. Here is a chant to go along with the
scoring. As you make each cut, say the corresponding phrase and think about
the outcome you want.
"By mark of one, the spell's begun.
By mark of two, it cometh true.
By mark of three, so mote it be.
By mark of four, the open door.
By mark of five, the spell's alive.
By mark of six, the spell is fix.
By mark of seven, the stars of heaven.
By mark of eight, the stroke of fate.
By mark of nine, the outcome is mine."
Now light the candle and burn your paper. Let the candle burn down
completely.
