Hot Cross Buns~Ostra Ingredients: Buns 1 1/2 c. flour 1 pkg. yeast 1 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 c. milk 1/2 c. cooking oil 1/3 c. sugar 1/2 tsp salt 3 eggs 2/3 c. raisins OR currants 2-2 3/4 c. flour 1 egg white, slightly beaten Icing 1 c. powdered sugar 1/4 tsp. vanilla extract 1 tbs. milk additional milk for texture Preparation Instructions Combine the flour, yeast, and cinnamon. Combine the milk, oil, sugar, and salt. Heat it until warm. Add it and the eggs to the flour mixture. Beat with a mixer on high for 3 minutes. Stir in the raisins and as much of the flour as possible. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead in the remaining flour, until the dough is moderately soft. Place the dough in a greased bowl, shape it into a ball, and turn it once. Cover it and allow it to rise until the size doubles. Punch down the dough, then turn it onto a floured surface. Cover it and allow it to rest for 10 minutes. Preheat oven to 375. Divide the dough into 20 2 1/2 inch balls and place them 1 1/2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Cover and allow balls to rise to double. Make criss-cross slashes in each bun. Brush with the egg white. Bake 12-15 minutes. To make the icing, mix the sugar, vanilla and tbs. milk. Add milk by tsp. until it is of drizling consistency. Drizzle over the baked buns.
